A school trip in Tennessee turned tragic when a bus carrying middle school students crashed on Highway 70. The group from Kenwood Middle School was heading to a competition when the bus crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a dump truck.
There were 29 people on board, including students, adults, and the driver. Authorities are still investigating the cause, but the scene was described as “a parent’s worst nightmare.” Some parents traveling behind the bus witnessed the crash and rushed to help.
The aftermath was chaotic and emotional. As one witness said, “People were crying. It was loud. It was chaotic.” Despite the panic, some students and parents helped others escape before emergency crews arrived.
Several people were injured and taken to hospitals, but two eighth-grade girls, Zoe and Arianna, lost their lives. They were remembered by loved ones as kind and full of life, with one described as “one-of-a-kind, smart, insanely funny.”
The community has come together to mourn and support the families. A vigil was held at the school, and counseling is being offered. As one student recalled the moment of impact, “Everything’s shaking… and all I see is the woods,” capturing how quickly the day turned from excitement into tragedy.
