Every Day, an Elderly Woman Bought 60 Kilos of Beef

The old woman buying sixty kilos of beef every morning unsettled everyone. It wasn’t just the quantity—it was the way she clutched the bags tightly, her eyes constantly scanning the street as if she were hiding something terrible.

By the fourth day, the butcher couldn’t ignore the growing unease in his chest. Something about her routine felt wrong, almost frightening, and it lingered with him long after she left.

Eventually, the police were called. When they forced open the warehouse door she had been visiting, the stench hit them first—thick, sour, and overwhelming.

Inside, there were no bodies, no horrors like people had imagined. Instead, there were rows of rusted cages, each holding frightened, starving dogs.

Dozens of them whimpered softly, their bodies thin, some marked with scars. Their eyes, hollow yet hopeful, followed every movement of the officers.

The woman, Lidia, collapsed to her knees, sobbing uncontrollably as the truth came out. Months earlier, she had discovered an illegal dog fighting ring hidden deep in the forest.

Too afraid to confront the men responsible and too poor to relocate the animals, she chose the only option she had—she fed them, every single day, in secret.

When the town learned the truth, suspicion turned into shame. Volunteers rushed to help, the dogs were rescued, and the warehouse was finally emptied. Lidia returned to her quiet life, buying only small portions—no longer for survival, but for herself.
