Doctors reveal that eating cashews causes

Alarmist headlines often claim that cashews can cause weight gain, kidney stones, or heart problems. These warnings may sound convincing, but they are often designed to attract attention rather than accurately explain the science. When nutrition research is considered more carefully, cashews appear much less dangerous than these headlines suggest.

For most people, cashews are a healthy and nutritious food. They contain important vitamins, minerals, plant-based protein, fiber, and healthy fats. Their monounsaturated fats can support healthy cholesterol levels, while magnesium contributes to normal muscle and nerve function. Cashews also provide copper and zinc, which are important for immunity and energy production. Because they contain protein, fiber, and fat, cashews can also help people feel full and satisfied.

Research on nuts has found several potential health benefits. People who regularly include nuts such as cashews in their diet often have better heart health, healthier cholesterol levels, more stable blood sugar, and lower inflammation. This is one reason health organizations recommend including nuts as part of a balanced diet.

There are, however, some exceptions. Anyone with a tree-nut allergy should avoid cashews. Eating very large amounts may also cause digestive discomfort, especially for people with sensitive stomachs. Those who are prone to kidney stones may need to limit cashews because they contain oxalates. Another concern involves truly raw cashews, which naturally contain a toxin. However, store-bought products labeled “raw” are processed to make them safe to eat.

Overall, cashews do not deserve the frightening reputation sometimes created online. As the original article states, “They don’t automatically cause weight gain or raise cholesterol.” For most people, a small handful of unsalted cashews can be a nutritious, filling, and enjoyable part of a healthy diet.
