Most People Are Narcissists… Count the squares

A simple visual test has gone viral online, challenging people to look at an image of overlapping circles and count how many they can see. The image comes with an intriguing claim: “The number of circles you see will tell you if you are a narcissist.” At first, the picture may look like a confusing spiral or blur, but a closer look reveals several circles layered together.

The challenge is straightforward: focus on the image and count the individual circles you can distinguish. Some people may quickly notice several shapes, while others may need more time to separate the overlapping lines. This difference makes the puzzle interesting because everyone can interpret the same image slightly differently.

According to the viral explanation, people who notice more circles may be more focused on small details, while those who see fewer may naturally concentrate on the overall picture. However, the test is not a scientifically validated way to determine whether someone is a narcissist or to diagnose any personality trait.

Instead, the image is best viewed as a fun perception challenge. It encourages people to slow down, pay attention, and compare what they see with friends and family. The different answers can also lead to interesting conversations about how people process visual information.

Whether you see three, five, ten, or another number of circles, there is no need to take the result too seriously. The popularity of the puzzle comes from its combination of visual curiosity, personality claims, and social interaction. It is ultimately a playful test of observation rather than a reliable psychological assessment.
