A shooting at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital, north of Detroit, caused panic early Thursday morning and led to a full lockdown. The incident began around 7:08 a.m. in the hospital’s parking garage, prompting a rapid police response and emergency safety measures.
Authorities reported that the suspect was a hospital employee who “shot a 25-year-old coworker twice in the arm.” Both individuals worked at the same facility, which shocked staff and raised questions about workplace tensions. The motive has not yet been determined.
The victim was quickly treated in the hospital’s emergency department and is now in stable condition. Officials confirmed that he is expected to make a full recovery, which helped ease some concern following the attack.
Police were able to apprehend the suspect without further violence. The situation temporarily disrupted hospital operations and created fear among employees and patients present during the lockdown.
Following the incident, officials have begun reviewing security procedures to strengthen safety in healthcare workplaces. The event has renewed attention on how hospitals manage internal security and prevent workplace violence.
