When your liver is bad, these parts start to hurt

The liver plays a key role in filtering toxins and supporting overall health. When it isn’t working properly, the body often gives warning signs. One common symptom is pain in the “upper right portion of the abdomen,” where the liver is located. This discomfort may feel like pressure, aching, or sharp pain due to inflammation or swelling.

Sometimes, the pain spreads to other areas. Because of nerve connections, it can radiate to the upper back or right shoulder. In more serious cases, fluid buildup in the abdomen can occur, leading to swelling and a feeling of tightness or heaviness.

Liver problems can also cause symptoms beyond pain. Issues with bile flow may lead to itching, especially in the hands and feet. Toxin buildup can result in fatigue, weakness, headaches, or mental confusion. These signs often develop slowly and may be easy to overlook.

Other warning signs include yellowing of the skin or eyes, known as “jaundice,” along with dark urine, pale stools, or unusual swelling. These symptoms can sometimes be mistaken for other conditions, making awareness important.

If you notice ongoing discomfort, fatigue, or visible changes, it’s important to seek medical help. Early attention can prevent serious complications. As emphasized, “early detection and intervention can prevent serious complications” and help maintain long-term health.
