Kai Trump recently shared personal details about her relationship with her grandfather, Donald Trump, showing a more family-focused side of him.

At the 2024 Republican National Convention, Kai spoke about how the public image of her grandfather differs from her own experience.

“The media makes my grandpa seem like a different person. But I know him for who he is. He is very caring and loving,” she said.

She described him as playful and supportive, adding a small family detail that caught attention.

“He gives us candy and soda when our parents aren’t looking.”

Kai also shared how involved he is in family milestones. When she performed well academically, he proudly celebrated her success.

“When I made the high honor roll, he printed it out to show his friends how proud he was of me.”

Outside family life, the two bond over golf. Kai, a dedicated young golfer, often competes with her grandfather and says he remains highly competitive.

“It’s a stiff competition… he always gives me a run for my money.”

Golf has become a major focus in her life. She has already committed to joining the women’s golf team at the University of Miami.

“Golf has always been a massive part of my life.”

Despite growing public attention, Kai says she prefers a normal lifestyle and tries not to let her family name define her.

“I fit in with everyone else. You would not know at all—and that’s the way I like to keep it.”

For now, Kai appears focused less on politics and more on sports, education, and building her own future while staying close to family.
