Slice pool noodles into rings and wrap them with string lights. You’ll see why everyone’s obsessed with this one.

Pool noodle ring lights have become a favorite DIY trend because they’re inexpensive, lightweight, and surprisingly elegant. A single pool noodle costs only a few dollars and can be turned into several glowing rings that resemble expensive boutique decorations without the premium price tag.

They’re also simple to make and easy to display. Since pool noodles weigh almost nothing, the finished rings can be hung from ceilings, patios, walls, trees, or porches without heavy hooks or hardware. Even beginners can create them with minimal effort.

To make your own, gather pool noodles, LED string lights (battery-powered, USB, or plug-in), a sharp knife, and tape, zip ties, or low-temperature hot glue. You can personalize the design with ribbon, faux flowers, greenery, decorative mesh, or spray paint for a unique finish.

Start by cutting the pool noodle into 1- to 3-inch sections to create soft foam rings, keeping the slices as even as possible for a balanced look. If you prefer larger circles, carefully slit the noodle lengthwise and reconnect the ends with tape or zip ties to form a complete loop.

Next, wrap the LED string lights around each ring in a spiral pattern. Space the lights apart for a subtle twinkling effect or wrap them closely together for a brighter glow, securing the ends neatly once finished.

These illuminated rings can be displayed in countless ways—hung in clusters, placed along a garden path, suspended with fishing line to create floating halos, arranged above a mantel, or used as eye-catching centerpieces for parties and weddings. Multiple rings can even be connected to form glowing spheres.

For safety, always use LED lights, which remain cool while operating and are suitable for foam materials. Traditional incandescent bulbs can become too hot and should be avoided.

With very little money and effort, this simple DIY project transforms ordinary pool noodles into stylish glowing decorations that add warmth and charm to any indoor or outdoor space.
