JUST IN / The Senate just Voted 50-49 !!

In a tense, late-night “vote-a-rama,” the SAVE America Act appeared to gain real momentum. The House-passed measure, centered on requiring proof of U.S. citizenship for federal voter registration and tightening voter ID rules, actually won a 50–49 majority in the Senate. But because it was offered under budget reconciliation, it needed 60 votes to advance and collapsed under the weight of the chamber’s own procedures, not its numbers.

The drama deepened as a broader election-integrity amendment from Sen. Lindsey Graham failed, and Sen. Susan Collins shifted to back the narrower House version while several Republicans, including Mitch McConnell, refused to budge. Every Democrat remained opposed, warning of new barriers for lawful voters. The result was a paradox: a bill with majority support, blocked by Senate rules, leaving the core fight over elections, immigration, and the filibuster very much alive.
