Late one quiet night, I was sitting alone when I heard a faint rustling sound near my window. Everything outside seemed peaceful, and there was no visible movement. At first, I assumed it was the wind or an animal, but when the noise happened again, I began to feel uneasy. Unsure what was causing it, I decided to contact the police rather than take any chances.
I picked up my phone and called for help, expecting the dispatcher to ask about my location and the strange noise. However, his first words immediately confused me. Instead of asking what had happened, he calmly said, “You already called.”
I explained that this was my first call that night, but the dispatcher insisted they had received another call from my number just a few minutes earlier. Even stranger, the previous caller had reported exactly the same problem: a mysterious noise coming from near my window and a request for police assistance.
I was left speechless. I couldn’t understand how someone had apparently used my phone number to report the same incident before I had even made my call. The dispatcher reassured me that officers were already on their way, so I thanked him and waited for their arrival.
By morning, everything seemed normal. The neighborhood was quiet, nothing appeared disturbed, and there was no clear explanation for the noise or the mysterious earlier call. Although nothing else happened, I couldn’t stop thinking about that strange night. What made the experience so unsettling was not simply the noise outside, but the fact that someone had apparently reported the exact same thing before I did, leaving me with questions that had no answers.
